Do you have any books from your childhood that really stand out? For me it would be Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". I just loved that book. And it turns out that I still do! M has been reading it and for the last two nights he let me read some of it to him. It was just wonderful to see M laugh at all the same parts I laughed at as a child. Wonderful old memories now overlapped with new.
While reading the book we have stopped to talk about different underlying themes of the book. M and I have talked about healthy eating, why it is not good to get everything you want, rude behavior and why too much tv is never a good thing. We have also talked abut the fact that too many people are hungry everyday and we don't always know it. Such a classic book that some how has remained current. Dahl was a genius!

As M and I were reading I could not help but notice that Mr. Wonka was as big fan of the exclamation point as I am! I could not help but love him a little bit more!!!
I LOVE the title of your blog!! So unique and fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of the exclamation points too! I love that book - and so do my kids. They just watched the movie recently and were hysterical. It is pretty timeless!
